Book Review: Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore

Hold on to your hats because you’re in for a goofy ride. The narrator, and yourself, gets much more than he bargains for when he takes a job at Mr. Penumbra’s 24 hour bookstore, for this bookstore has an age old secret. And what better city for a conglomerate of eclectic characters to come together over books and cutting edge technology than San Francisco! Let’s take a peek inside…

Do you dare to enter?

I personally found it to be a very entertaining quick read. To me it was Pink Panther with technology meets Dan Brown’s conspiracy. I love both so it was hard not to put down. The story took turns I didn’t see coming all while being narrated by a goofball whose insights and personal interjections were comical and kept the whole book down to earth. Each new level of the Unbroken Spine revealed kept my interest and the ending was satisfactory for the build up. It’s a light read and something different with just enough suspense to keep you reading. Not to mention the picture painted of Google headquarters really got me questioning what’s really going on there… Overall I recommend it! Hope you take the time to wander into Mr. Penumbra’s 24 hour bookstore.

Has anyone else read it and have an opinion or have a suggestion for a next read?

Sorry for all the bookstore puns- I could not help myself.
