I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts

BIOLOGY FACT OF THE DAY!

Coconut “water” (which is actually liquid endosperm in young coconuts) can be and has been used as a replacement for blood plasma in trauma victims. It was used in the Pacific during World War II when the medics ran out of blood plasma. The coconut “water” contains DNA, RNA, amino acids, vital sugars and salts; basically an isotonic “Gatorade” solution that is completely sterile.

Take notes Bear Grylls!
